Yes Huck, thats my Honey in the red jumper:thumbup::lol:

However

The stuff in the jars is;

(i) Apple jelly with fresh home made Lemon pectin added.

(ii) Pure Lemon made from scratch Marmalade, 24 lemons worth.

No added water or pectin in any of Senior Managment's jam.

They are however new bought jars, and usually sold to Bee Keepers for Honey.

cheers

marcus

nice one Marcus :thumbup1:

mum made loads of jam last year

24kg of cherries had to be de stoned they cost £4.80 though

so we ended up running out of jars and it was the best thing as it was far easier when all the jars were the same

now i just need some bees to get a Honey

Bee keeping would be my next goal. (an pigs)

Fattened thousands of the blighters this year, an they carted all the Honey up to a guy in the Village.

An did he even offer me a pot.

Hardly!

bah humbug!

PS

Senior Managment says Radio 4 says Apple Jelly "is the new Sex", apparently.

Me? I still prefer the old kind.

If you are interested in beekeeping, now is the time to start looking for courses at your local beekeepers association. Most offer theory courses in early new year immediately followed by a practical course.

I started beekeeping 6 years ago and it is a fantastic hobby. When you have harvested your own bee's honey you will realise that the "honey" sold in supermarkets is a poor imitation of the real stuff.

We keep bees it's no easy hobby, they need a lot of looking after and checking. Starting out is expensive like most hobbies but that all said its brilliant, fascinating and very rewarding. Sadly this year we lost 5 colonies to colony collapse, so no honey. We have two new colonies thanks to the network of friends we have developed from bee keeping. My only advice is join a local group as you get loads of support.

We've fattened 4 pigs this year it's been ace.

They've got about two weeks left before they meet the butcher

Really rewarding both financially and spiritually.

You wouldn't believe how many nephews and nieces didn't know where pork, bacon, sausages etc came from.

One of them, an eight year old was genuinely upset. He couldn't understand why we couldn't buy our meat from the supermarket like everyone else !

Despite my best efforts to explain quality of life, etc he's adamant that he's not eating meat at the BBQ we're planning after they return in kit form from the butcher.

All my daughter is interested in is what flavour the spare ribs are going to be !!!

She keeps giving them a squeeze to make sure they're not too fatty
