moved house about 10 months ago so only got a log burner at the min will be moving the log burner to the other end of the house and fitting a back boiler where the log burner is now. all ways had burners or boilers and wouldn't have anything els if you have logs about

well wind turbines B^Q sold one once well it was next to useless be lucky if it power a light bulb. to power a house looking at min 5kva will need planning permission to install it as it will be 30mtrs tall to catch wind. and it needs to be a min of 6kph to run it will need a concrete base and need a trench to house cable from mast to house then a box which shows how much you are making from turbine. and how much you are taking so rest you can sell to the grid. and feed in tarrif has dropped so take longer to get your return. last time i looked looking at £20k for one there are some companys who will supply one in return for feed in and let you have your leccy free if it meets there demands eg how much feed in they can get back.

everything in the house, we have only got electric (no gas or oil) so for heating and everything in the house and workshop.

i am in a windy position, i could mount on top of workshop gable one each end. even if 500watts each would help electric bills

I don't think it is wise to mount on a building.

Also consider power is proportional to the windspeed cubed so theoutput is peaky.

Even on a good site you only reckon on an average of 30% of installed capacity and most sites in England have not achieved this. Perceived wisdom is that you don't get an economic return if average wind speed is less than 7 metres/sec.

None of which would stop me if I had space except I would use a pole.
