Whats the cost of CS30/31 these days?

Chatting to a young lad who does a bit of fencing and hedge work. I have been encouraging him to do some basic chainsaw training and said he can't help me on the farm without doing a basic ticket. I think he said he had been told it was £700 but surely it's not that much!

Thanks logbaron

That's crazy :confused1:

I thought the purpose of training was to make the industry safer but at that price I know darn well he is not going to bother and can' say I blame him.

is it still a weeks cours? if so I don't think that's to bad

Really?

I only earn at best £500 pound a week and this lad is probably earning nearer £300.

If one to one training maybe but I presume there would be 4 or 5 on the course so £3180 for 4 people then a £1000 for the guy running it where does the rest go?

Sorry not having a go at you but this a low paid area and to me this is a hell of a lot of money.

Bicton run the CS30 alone for £395 at present Beau, I guess the 31 would be similar.

We keep up to date with the cost as we advise every non-pro saw purchaser to get themselves trained.

Very few do though.

Thanks Barry

Remind me what is covered in CS30 as my course was combined and long time ago. I am being lazy I will look it up. Looks like he will need CS31 as well to cover his usual work.

Merrist wood are charging me £750 for five days training, plus I then need to pay for the test , so add another £150.

I wouldn't mind but after working on the saws for 11 years I have to do the full course and can't do the cheeper refresher course.

Best part if of a months pay with my current job=(
