Hedging stakes

Anyone buying or selling hedging stakes ? What sort of money are we talking in different areas.

if its normal stakes eg 2inch hazel 50p is going rate depends how many you are after seen them for more 60p up but 50p is normal see if you can find a local coppicing group bound to find a hurdle maker or like who will sell them.

Sawn stakes are around 50p.

I pay 60p plus vat, delivered on site.

45p plus vat for untanalised sawn stakes

We sell them for .50p each.5' long peeled,pointed 4 ways and tied in bundles of 20.All done on the bandsaw.

may be of help to you but the north east hedgelayers where in need of stakes and binders as a shortage of hazel up there part of the world.

had phone call today from someone I know, there family members involved with some charity (not in the hedging circle's at all) wants to know how many split chestnut (and the word they used sounded like STAYED, STAID !!!!!!! didnt get & not sure on spelling, Im sure they mean stakes) but any how

Its for some hedge thing all a bit vague as we don't use em down ere

 

but how many split chestnut stakes/stayed/staid would you get for £500 and what distance would that cover in say Midland/SoE if that what there for:confused1:

they didnt say anything about binders/heatherings

so out of interest what would say 10m's worth cost and they can "times X " it from that and work it out from there for ball park fig,

 

is it about 4 per 3m/10foot

 

Is split chestnut used ???? thought it was mainly hazel

If it's Midland then 2 per yard 18" apart. Isn't south at 2' spacing?. I'd expect them to be about 65p each. Hazel is what we usually use or sawn.
