Aspen after conventional 2 stroke mix?

Hi all, is it ok to start using aspen after using a saw on ordinary 2 stroke mix such as petrol and stihl 2. I know there is a forum on aspen but didn't see this crop up. In looking to change as I don't use fuel as quick as I would like sometimes. Thanks folks

just drain the fuel and fill with aspen. see how it goes. may need a tune and may need the rubber bits. i.e fuel lines, carb diaphragms, changed but only a maybe.

 

just fill it up and see what happens.

You will be fine, on rare occasion the carb rubbers play up due to the change of fuel ( no ethanol), go for it, you wont look back.

Stop thinking about it and get on with it! All my 2-stroke machines are Aspenated now and there's no grief with it; you'll never look back. As GTR says old rubber bits may need replacing after a bit but that's not the Aspen's fault, it's down to some of the - er - stuff they put in petrol.

 

One day after using Aspen for a while you'll smell someone else's machine and feel almost physically sick at it!

Other than retuning it shouldn't make a difference, if you're referring to your 550, you won't retune it

My 560 has to switch between the two, I use aspen, where I work doesnt

Just crack on, might smoke a bit for a few minutes, but your saw is newish so the petrol most likely hasn't softened the carb rubbers.

Thanks so much people. Already went out and tried it. No problems.. spluttered a little at first but no biggy. They definitely need to improve on the can though, as no matter what angle it's poured at it seems to drip a little

i had to use normal 2 stroke as could not get to dealer to get aspen. never knew what a difference it makes. the blower chucked fumes back at me the hedge trimmer was getting a lung full same with chain saw. now i see the difference will stick with aspen. so much cleaner to use
