Let's put it another way, I wouldn't climb and rig off it without anchoring into another tree. If anyone climbed and anchored into that tree and that tree only, I would call them stupid not brave. Nothing macho about risking your life when there's no need :001_smile:

Well I'm staggered:ohmy:

I would not consider that tree to be in the least bit "dodgy", and I do not consider myself "stupid".

No offence intended Dave :001_smile:

You can see the lean on the tree, it was about 60ft with a tiny thin peice of live holding wood on a single root buttress on the tension side about 3/4 inch thick.

You would have to see it to judge it Dave, it was dodgey mate believe me.

well as dean has seen all the tree & you have only seen a snippit off the tree i would suggest dean is better placed to judge wether it is fit to climb or not wouldnt you ?

Do you prefer sailing or yogurt? Each and every tree/job dictates the best tactic, it's not personal choice. The logic should be very obvious. What do i prefer doing? Climbing of course. Mewps are necessary evils, no-one in their right mind would `prefer' standing in a metal box to swinging on a rope. would they?
