Is arb work hard work?

You need 3 things to be a good worker; skills, knowledge and attitude. You can teach skills and knowledge so long as you've got the right attitude.

I think your born a grafter, you can't teach someone that. I know I work harder than the guys I work with and I don't expect them to keep up, but I at least like them to try!

Lead by example, be consistent, take pride in everything you do.

Amen

"Dock that Chink a day's pay for nappin on the job!" (Blazing Saddles)

Horatio: How long have you employed staff? You don't seem to realise that, whilst they are just working for you, you are working for YOURSELF! It's as simple as that. There is a world of difference in the two.

As their employer, you need to explain clearly & simply what is expected of them each day, & then let them do it. That's part of YOUR job. I wouldn't mention running back from the chipper if I were you, unless you like branches shoved where the sun don't shine, though.

If they don't measure up, then tell them why & if still not then part company -simples.

STUPIDITY. As a boss for not planing the job out properly.

IGNORANCE. For not recognising the dangers in running on site.( SLIPS/TRIPS/AND FULLS)

GREED. For all and above and thinking about how much you can make and not about safety and your mens lives.

And when it comes to young groundys working. Its your job as a boss to give them the incentive to be a part of this game. My young lad was 17 when he came to me for a job.. He had no work experience and had been to young mans prison. And my words to him was as i pointed to my ex army groundys was.( look at them sexy mofos they get birds because they look sexy in all the STIHL gear, they earn good money so they can take them sexy girls out, and they are as hard as coffin nails because this game ant for fcuking poofs, and look at my six pack because you wont find a fat tree surgeon. So if you work for me you give me your all and be safe at all time. And ill turn you in to a MAN with a life that you can be proud of... Now that 17 year old is 22 and when he went in to kingswood training to do his 30/31 he kew more than all the other people and breezed though the corse and showed the some ex army blokes how to tie different hitches and loops...

Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.
