After Arb

My old man is 61 and still the hardest worker on site, he shows all the younger guys how it's done! I got a small tree hung up the other day and he comes over to help me, I say don't worry I will cut it out, no he says I got this and he throws himself up in the air in a move that any wrestler would have been proud of and smashes it to the ground! I was chuckling all day!

Sounds just like my old man he's 77 years old and was felling ash in a woodland for two days last week like a true pro ,his favourite saying is sawdust gets in the blood as well as I'd rather wear out than rust out ,typical old forester! Me I'm 48 and have climbed since 16 but have had my own mewp for 18 years now which does extend your up top working life considerably

if you cant hack it full term ,you shouldnt join the club :biggrin:

:thumbup::lol::lol::lol:

After climbing for myself and others for thirty years, and still getting up most days, I agree.

There is no after, just a change in roles. I'm starting a level six course in a couple of weeks, so I'm qualified for when I get old.:001_rolleyes:

Don't give up!! EVER!!!

Thats my motto.

"you don't stop doing things because you get old, you get old because you stop doing things!"

I'm almost 44 and feel great!

Couple of weeks ago I walked the Dales way, 75+miles walked in three days carrying a decent pack and my two companions where both older than me and incredibly fit!!

I find nothing sadder than seeing ex-climbers hugely obese.

Age is just a number.

Can't agree more Huck

Id give up tmr if an opportunity arose, the guys that all want to climb until the day they die are probably the same guys that would also work for nowt so they could still hobble in the pub bent double with their lumber jack shirt covered in chip.

I do this line of work to pay the bills the truth is I messed around at school and couldnt get a profession that gave me sick pay, holiday pay and a decent pension.
