Try it again with both vehicles in high box. The landrover is rated to pull 11 tonnes in an emergency in low box. Get the dodge and td5 pulling a 3 tonne trailer and see which you could drive all day.

Which was the absolute "secret" a hairy arsed REME Sargent refused to tell me, when talking about rescuing a laden 4 tonner with a landrover.

As this was something obviously well beyond the ken of a wet behind the ears "one pipper", who should have been goggle eyed at such tales of "derring do".

Iv pulled a 4.5 ton tractor up to the top of the hill with my defender in low, it wouldn't be able to do it in high tho.

And agree if the front axle of the dodge was engaged it wouldn't notice the landrover I think

I'm no expert, but surely with the lr pulling on the dodge the frontwheels will be slightly lifting leaVing the rear doing most of the work anyway?

That would apply both ways though, in the Rams favour given its footprint I'd have thought...

Both drivers could be landrover enthusiasts so its a fix. Difficult to tell as you cant see the dirty finger nails, open toed sandals, socks, beards or pipe

i'd be interested to see this same test against a navara or similar. Not saying for a second the landrover wouldn't cane it, but it would be interested to see what sort of a fight(if any) a navara would put up

Well I'm a landy man through and through but I'd have thought the navarra would stand just as much chance as a landy- it comes down to weight/traction and difflocking ability so can't see why the navara would be at a loss, they certainly have the power to boot.

Not sure about that (55 plate navara) struggled to tow a laden transit full of chip 15 miles after it broke down......where as my mates landy 130 towed a ifor trailer with my ford 4000 with loader, 25 miles up hill and down back to my yard no probs!!
