Gentlemen!

All so yesterday.

One simply buys a plug in electronic kit that picks up the engine revs via the alternator signal.

And regardless of the number of cylinders under the bonnet.

Plays back (through a high end ICE system oviously)

The straight 8/ V eight/ straight 6 / V 10 engine exhaust noises of choice.

There was a clip on Youtube of a guy in Austrailia "gunning" a Hayundi I10 through an urban area.

To a big-block V8 straight through burble sound track.

Stop lines and traffic lights.

And endless needless revving.

It was pure hysterically funny.

I always loved the sound of the metro 6r4 rally car, the engine was based on a rover v8 with 2 cylinders chopped off, 410 bhp from a normally aspirated 3.0 litre in 1985, in the flesh these things sound awesome.. You get a sense of it in this video, and also the genius of Colin McRae.
