Friction hitches

Im looking to try some new friction hitches out. I have been using a prussik until now but want to try some new stuff. I have been playing around with a VT and I like that but Im seem to have trouble tying it and getting the ends the right lengths and im not sure what length to start with. It also seems to get quite tight. Its 9mm cord on 13mm rope, im not sure if im tying it wrong. I have also been looking at a Knut and others to try out. Anyone got any tips or ideas.

cheers

Jay

Yeah VT can and does slip which really makes it a bad hitch because a good hitch should never need help to grip the rope.

I use the VT its good but im sure there are far better eg the icicle is superior in grip and release but its a pain in the asse with a hitch climber

Just a little update.

Im not a great fan of the VT used it for i guess a month now and its just not what i expected it may be due to the oceanp friction cord

Im using my icicle hitch with my normal friction 8mm cord and hitch climber it wipes the floor with the VT oceanp combi.

The icicle never slips always grips and its very easy to move it does not bind up.

I recommend every one give it ago i think there will be alot of converts.
