I have one which i have worked hard for 2 years and its very good. Get the highest spec you can afford as i cuts down on labour costs I have the 85h model with remote control ( makes a good winch a great winch) didn't get the hydraulic feed which is a mistake as it gets rid of all the cable lay problems because it always puts the cable on the drum under pressure so no kinks or overlaps which as the cable gets older breaks your heart. The bits you choke your chain to are a weakness but i think its the same on most. If i was you i would have a good look at Uniforest, Krapen which looks strong and i like the hinged butt plate and BGU which has a good starting spec.

Bear in mind that BGU, Uniforest and Krpan are all made in Slovenia by the same.............................. yes I'm spilling the beans; BGU will deny it tooth and nail of course

Hi TCD,

I dont think they are all made in the same factory, but certainly there are alot of similarities in the design.

Uniforest definately build for themselves, but I'm not sure those other brands come out the same factory?

Uniforest tend to push forward with new designs, whereas the other brands have alot of similarities to the older Uniforest designs with a few changes. You'll find that Uniforest do make machines that are sold under other names, a prime example being AMR winches, which are the older design of Uniforest winches, made by Uniforest but improted through France with a different name.

The guys at the factory at Uniforest are brilliant, delivery times are excellent and the backup is great.

Don't let Jon see that, he likes big buts, and he will want a ride.
