Can't fault my 211 don't use it everyday but I use it over my Husky 240 everytime now.

Simple start sequence, using a 14" bar and trouble free.

If you're gonna get a 211, get a 14" bar fitted on it and a picco super chain, don't have the tool less tensioner as they break quite easily

We use a 181 as our day to day ground saw at work. Its cheap, and is fine for cutting up branches for the chipper. In my personal kit however, I run a 211, on a 14" bar. I have used a 16" on it but it does struggle more.

 

The 211 on a 14 is a lovely saw, with noticeably more pluck, but as has been said before, if you're looking for an upgrade to deal with bigger stuff you'd be better with a 261.

 

If its just a replacement for the 181 with a bit more performance than I can't fault the 211.

If you can afford to go to the 230 its got noticeable poke. Its the same saw as the 211 but just a 4mm longer con rod that makes the world of difference. Further down the line if you want you can turn it into the 250 just by changing the piston/cylinder if you wore it out or do a piston in.

I love the little 230. My saws in that range ive also got an 024/240 and a 026/260 but for some "fun" reason like to use the 230 for small stuff.

 

Im a stihl person on the smaller saws, the reason if it needs a top end then its sensible money, do it with a husky and its cheaper to throw the saw and buy a new one... Not knocking them just the cost of spares is so much more and not so quickly obtainable.

 

Hi newbie, joined when I saw this post last evening. I have been looking for a 211c cylinder and piston as previous saw owner thought it would be ok to run a tank of petrol only just the once , so cheap saw... I was horrified by stihl price and cant find an aftermarket. Is that direct straight swap no hassles etc to use a 230/250 cylinder and pistion, there is a stihl one on ebay for 20 quid... Regards Andy

210 and 230 topend are the same and should fit the 211.

 

 

If I where you tho I would do a srip down and see if you can save the cylinder as it would be a better bet.
