I seen to remember that if the clearance is for construction work, ie in the footprint, or to clear for construction, then yes.

If it is tree work not connected to the construction work, you might be ok.

That's how I was dealt wit by a large con co. but it was some years back.

It's all a bit vague, but I did look into this recently. As far I could tell from the .gov site (which is a nightmare) if tree work is in best arb practice, ie deadwooding, thinning, felling for safety etc you're clear. Fencing solely for tree protection, as per the TPP, is also exempt. Felling/pruning for access or building, or fencing which will be part of the completed development, is included. Hope this helps...

Does arb and grounds maintenance fall into the construction tax regulations?

There's no fencing mainly ground clearance.

If you do work for the taxable construction industry you need to break down the invoice for labour , materials and machine hire. They can only tax the labour content of the invoice.

Edit. if you dont they will stop tax on the whole of the invoice.

Thanks Bob,

Can I charge a set hire rate for my own chipper? So that's not taxed?

Problem is its all labour using my own kit or sub contractors.

The machine`s that are on hire ie chipper, truck and other hand tools dont have to be separately itemised just list them with a total . We just write it down as a total for labour and a separate total for equipment/machine hire. if your accounts package wont allow a split total just send in two separate invoices.
