Hi all,

Within it's first year the chain brake band snapped on the 550XP as they do.

I'd understood from a lot of posts on here that it is a known fault and that Husky dealers were replacing them as a warranty item, so off i went to my local dealer and enquired. He said that he hadn't heard of that being the case and certainly hadn't seen any bulletin from Husqvarna to that effect.

Anyway, he took one out of the display model and gave it to me free of charge.

For the sake of less than a tenner i would much rather pay for the item than have anyone think i was pulling a fast one, so can anyone confirm or deny that the above is true?

Many thanks in advance.

Kind regards,

Steve.

My 560 went through 6 along with all the other problems it had, starter case, carb etc. I solved the problem by getting rid.

Pay for the first, if it goes again, take it back and get a refund, and a new one under warranty

Its 1 of the many common issues they suffer as PMH mentions. Be prepared to buy more..

I thought they ( huskey ) had uprated the brake band and all warranty replacements were of the newer type . Never broken one on my 560 but then don't use the brake .

This is what i understood, but the part number was the same and the bands were identical?

Maybe the dealers want to use up all the old stock before starting on any updated ones ? ......
