Glad your ok Andy Ash can be funny unpredictable trees this time of year as im sure you know, ive had more than a few do the unexpected....barbers chaired a few in the last couple of years,Nothing worse than hearing the tree split up the middle or split down the stump and pop up roots and not knowing wich direction to run!

We cant get to complacent as thats when it goes all tits up!

Hmmm not sure whether to say "glad your ok" or "you idiot" confused lately with all these near miss's :001_smile:

Jk

Had the odd dodgy one jump back 'for no apparent reason' you cant expect, judge or foresee some stuff with experience but there is always the old chaos theory bit that can catch you out.

If it saves someone else from something similar or worse, then highlighting an incident is worthwhile. I was angry with myself, and called myself a few choice names, idiot being the politest. This morning I feel i've been wrestling alligators, but count my lucky stars I feel like that.:001_smile:

Hope this honest and open account, can inspire others to initiate more posts for the benefit of both the new and old hands who need the occasional heads up (myself included)

Cliche - but we do all learn from experience.

This truly is the essence of the site.

Good post Andy.

Heal quick old chap :001_smile:

Its easy to look at an incident/accident, and say "it would never happen to me, I'm too good/careful", or too simply berate someone as an idiot. We have training for a reason, we do risk assessments for a reason, we wear ppe for a reason. This forum, used constructively, can be an equally useful tool to educate safety, not just the AFAG, HSE and training bodies spiel, but real life stuff we can all relate too, in real life scenarios.

Glad you escaped ok Andy and thanks for posting!

I think your experience saved you there, and I know you are giving yourself a hard time but you had the thought that something could go wrong and got yourself far enough away to prevent serious injury.

If you had stood watching it fall it could have been far worse, and you will deal with this situation far better in the future... Enjoy your weekend mate!!
