I have two husqvarna 50's in my shed their in running order. one has a white top to the casing the other is all orange. Does anyone know anything about these saws and what size bar is usually run on them? Thought i may as well start using them again!

Cheers!

You should try a 15" bar on them, they will pull an 18" but it will be a bit pedestrian:thumbdown: The pitch should be 0.325" but make sure the sprocket is a 0.325" sprocket and a 1.3mm or 1.5mm gauge will be OK but the 1.3mm will cut faster being narrower Kerf.

The saws are good old school Huskys and will do your logging for the next 20 years, nothing flash but not too shabby as well. Far better than some of the modern light saws out there.

It's a 50cc, max rpm 12.5k, idle is 2.5k

The year of manufacture is on the serial plate

Cheers for the help guys! Spudulike, they both currently have 182 bars on them and it is VERY slow cutting so i think i'll get a smaller bar for them, may even go for the 13" as i won't be using it for anything big. Or maybe the 15" with a 1.3 gauge.

The only problem with them is the on/off switch doesn't work is it a quick fix?? or shall i just leave it (i stop them by putting on the choke atm)

Check the switch, wires and connectors are all still together, if they are, get a can of wd40 degreaser and spray it into the switch, then just keep sliding it for a bit

Sounds about right - also sometimes the mounting bracket fractures and stops the switch working.

The white top is prob the older saw of the 2 especially if the other has a grey top. Serial numbers will be different to the modern way husqy do it and will be on a siver not black tag.

Not bad saws but can be a bit slow to start due to the choke system of just squashing the air filter.

As Spud says they just earth thru the spring bit that hold the switch in situ so sometimes they just need a tweak on the spring as the get lose so the switch rattles about and doesn't earth efficiently.

I would keep bar max to 15" as you say.
