Hi peatff

after looking through all the options i think that maybe my best bet.

with a jumper at least i can use it for other stuff too.. would be handy for my marine fish tank if we get a power cut also :laugh1:

looking at something like this now.. Car Battery Jump Starter Inverter Compressor Power Pack | eBay

will still put a 12v ciggy socket on the granberg grinder for ease though...

You could use a jump starter pack like the ones from Halfords or Machine Mart, they have battery leads and an accessory socket and are easily carried. We use one for a camping battery and I use it for a 12v soldering iron sometimes.

I tend to use this option as it is handy to have a jump pack around anyway...

Would be interested in more info or a link to this, running it lighter makes sense to me.

Hi, haven't got a link as it's an old piece of laboratory equipment. I scrounged it when we scrapped a lab as it's dead handy for electrolytic cleaning (de-rusting) but have also found it useful for other things.

Next time I'm sharpening a chain I'll ask my wife to film it. I reckon with the sound on you can hear how hard the grinder is working relative to the reading on the needle (yes, it's the old type ammeter/voltmeter with needle readings!)

sorry, should have worded that question better lol :)

To power the grinder from a jumper, does the jumper have to have a good charge in it or can it just be plugged into the elecy 240v and pass power through to the grinder... hope that makes sense ;)
