I use the rope grab on my side strop. One of the best things i have changed.

Advantages.

Never slips locks in solid, can take up slack easily with one hand

Disadvantages

You cant slacking off under load.

Thats about the only disadvantages i can think of. Well worth changing the prussic loop for. :001_cool:

Also great on sappy stuff as it won't jam.

Great bit of kit apart from that stupid little bit of wire snapping and sticking in my fingers now and again. Wouldn't like to be without one now.

Remember your stopper knot!

prefer a hitch myself, you can slack it of under pressure, tend it easily one handed, its lighter and is cheap and easy to replace.

Hitch, cinch or art positioner are preferable for me. They all can be released in a controlled fasion whilst under tension.

I'd like an art positioner one day do they work with steel core lines? As for a cinch nice bit of kit only i like my adjusters on the left as i'm right handed and this means the lever is the wrong way round.
