Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone could tell be what tree this is? The bark just seems such an unusual colour.

Many thanks,

Vicky

Thank you so much. This is also a photo of the whole tee.

It looks like one of the snakebark maples - most common ones I see are Acer, rufinerve, capillipes, or davidii. Most often see Acer davidii, so it may be that, it has variable lobing on the leaves.

That would be my (educated :confused1::biggrin:) guess too...but are the leaves arranged 'alternate' as I thought Acer were opposite.

Leaf doesn't look serrated/toothy/ridged enough for hornbeam to me, I'd go for Acer davidii or similar but the leaves do look alternate.:confused1:

any more close ups of anything :thumbup1: ?
