As said before , I wear chaps and have shorts on underneath quick change at break times is easy . Also if on a domestic job head for the the outside tap . Although to be fair this weather is making me less productive and I,m getting behind with work . Nice when you've finished though and are hydrated and on BBQ duty :laugh1:

One thing though.

If you should have an accident in your shorts.

Your insurance company will tell you where to go.

That may well be the most compelling argument for always wearing the correct PPE.

An interesting question! Maybe worth firing it off to the insurers for an answer. Wearing shorts shouldn't have any impact on PL insurance, it might have an implication for EL insurance and could have an implication for personal accident insurance, but, if you've done your risk assessment and the documented outcome is "wear shorts" you've covered your bases. Be interesting to get an insurers perspective. Might give them a ring to sound it out.

I haven't had an accident in my shorts since 1973.

But in 1972 he nearly severed a leg, crushed his toes and got run I've by his own truck!

😂😂😂

Actually, Felix I totally agree with you. I just comply with HSE stuff to set example to employees, the public and on commercial sites.

However, at the slightest excuse, I'll rewrite the risk assessment to include shorts, deck chair and parasol.

👍

my risk assessment says wear shorts. but on spikey trees ask another climber to do it. stick your head under garden tap whenever you get a chance. if there's a sprinkler available get that set up between the drop zone and chipper. listen out for any lolly vans playing match of the day theme tune.

Don't worry, it was actually nothing than couldn't be sorted out with some wet wipes and a 60 degree wash in Persil.
