For a clean tree if you hit the right branch first time with the throwbag than 5 mins no problem, on the other hand I am not ashamed to admit I did a dead elm covered in ivy last year and it took 1 1/2 hours to get to the top.:001_smile:

Hi all,

How long does it take you to climb to the top of say a 25 meter tree and establish an anchor piont?

I know its going to be different wether you use ascendors and how long you been climbing.

When you first strated climbing how long did it take you?

spikes or no spikes? 25m/80foot tree. personally i think the average hardwood isnt much over 50 feet. i have been up the top of a tree in a couple of mins and i have also spent 2 hrs trying to get 30 feet through ivy infested hell.:mad1:

Presumably, 25 m in 2 mins is achieved by throwbag placement. Consequently it's irrelevant how many branches there are on the way up and the distance between them.

I wonder what time would come back if the throwbag wasn't an option and the rope was still in its bag.

It's pretty impossible to say as all trees are different to a greater to degree than the difference in climbers.

I think Mr. Ed is exaggerating at 7 seconds and we should take everything he says with a pinch of salt.:001_tongue:

if you throw bag 25m put in your climbing line, you dont have to haul your backside right up the top anyway:001_tongue:

I have to ask, are you guys saying from the moment you leave the truck or from your shot with the throwball? I do a walk around with every tree, and plan my route before i even start setting up. So if you include all that prob about 10-15 min. If time starts when i try to set a line then less than 5.

Good post
