I'm in Kevin's gang in terms of presenting yourself as qualified. A folder sits in the truck that can be given to the client on arrival. Quals and insurances.

The aim is to kill off the £100 "do yer trees for ye, missus" brigade. The client base who can afford good treework and will pay realistic fees are often professional people with qualifications themselves and who will appreciate yours.

And if you're in a dog eat hog region of the country, once the client has seen that you're qualified, you suggest that they check for quals and insurance from the others that knock at the door to quote. "That way you're covered if anything goes wrong". If the next guy pitches up with nothing but a smile and "20 years man and boy mister", you've potentially put yourself ahead of them.

I reckon its a way of marketing arb work that can only help to raise awareness of what we go through to do this job and be able to ask for a sensible fee.

I'd guess that around 70% aren't charging enough, it's basic business sense, work out your costs and cover them plus a bit more

There's a reason why you see so many trailing knackered clapped out Chippers, wearing shredded chainsaw trousers and boots that are falling off their feet :001_rolleyes:

If you are charging the correct prices then you should be able to renew and repair equipment when required
