Example of h&s stupidity ?

Interview at the rugby cement works this morning in the landscaped garden area in front of the reception / offices.

They may get hit in the face by a koi carp jumping out the pond hence the safety glasses?

I once did a survey at a large agrochemical works in Norwich. Company policy was glasses on all the time, indoors or out - anywhere on the site. Quite frustrating as a temporary visitor but apparently it eventually feels like second nature for the employees to the extent that they would feel distinctly unprotected without the glasses.

I remember going on a site years ago wear the blanket policy was to wear safety glasses, over normal glasses, under a visor...the sweat misted up all the lenses making it impossible to see anything. I explained this to the site foreman, and he said to work at a speed that would not encourage perspiration. I returned with the fact that we were working to a price, he said that H&S policy was very clear and should be taken into account when quoting. Thankfully I was only on site for a couple of days in the end. It wasn't my job, I was subbing for another company who had quoted the work.

Dean, it looks like the interviewer is holding a mic in front of a Giant Koi dressed as a human with safety glasses!. Perhaps Ripleys believe it or not should be on this case!

I did see the report and had exactly the same thought as you - it is ridiculous get-up for a 'safe' area.
