its a cone splitter stuck onto a rankin post hole borer, you could do it with any post hole borer and the cone for sale on the bay, nothing fancy about it

 

 

Looking into ways of splitting larger hardwood cord,just wondering if anyone has done this? If so what were the results/opinions?

Also anyone know of a machine shop that could produce a cone to go on a 3 point link post hole borer?

Any advice/info appreciated :thumbup1:

hi there i think there is a splitting cone called an atom splitter

 

or if you put splitter cone into ebay you come up with several options:thumbup:

Thanks,yeah seen that,its in the US and not cheap :thumbdown:

plus there is the hassle of importing it/possible customs charges etc.

trying to locate/source machine/engineering shop in UK that could manufacture one at reasonable cost.

Not sure about reasonable price or lead time.

 

You could try JW Engineering who are at Rougham industrial estate, Bury-st-Edmunds.

Yes it has been a while,hope you are well and enjoying not being in the log game any more.......it doesnt get any easier the older i get :blushing:

Thanks for the info,will try and find them on the net if i cant find anyone closer to Lancashire.

I remember someone at the arbshow at radley last year with a large cone splitter on a 360, but as to who it was ...doh.. cant remember who, somebody out there must remember

 

 

Hi,seen vids of the Lasco type cone splitters for diggers/360's ..........similar but these are hydraulic driven i beleive.
