Hiya,

I have recently started my own business and alot of my work is landscaping, decking, fencing etc. Things are good at the mo, plenty of work! Im just abit worries that this kind of work is seasonal so was wondering if in your experience this is the case, and if so what you do during the winter!

Cheers!:)

Well we have more arb work in Winter and less in Summer but that then brings in the decking, fences, sheds and awnings.

We are installers for Castorama (B&Q) so rarely a quiet period between arb work and Casto clients.

My brother does similar work and has found that year on year, his season has got longer and longer to the point where he buggers off to Lanzarote or Tenerife for 3-4 weeks in the winter and works the rest.

He drags in the work whilst he can - out at 8 and works until the evening while he can and pulls in enough to keep him going all year round - just takes time and loyal customers + word of mouth etc

In the winter, just have shorter lunch breaks, other than that its the same but you wear a coat.

Having said that I wore a coat all last year!!
