Have to renew all NPTC units every 5 years

If the industry as a whole rejects the idea of refresher training then the man handing out the contracts wont ever ask for it in the first place!

AA Teccie should be representing contractors and telling the HSE to back off with the idea of mandatory refresher training. We already pay enough for all the various legislation/regs LOLER etc.

Treequip, if you took your argument to it's logical conclusion you'd want to see the introduction of an NPTC unit in backpack blower use. Then if the man handing out the contracts asked to see your Backpack blower cert you could say, 'here it is sir! yes sir!'.

That'll the be the next thing HSE will be looking for no doubt :001_rolleyes:

Why? What injury can you cause from a back pack blower? Maintenance is covered in the manual, tuning is supposed to be done by a dealer, you wear chainsaw PPE when using a blower because you're tidying up after cutting a tree down, and finally, you're doing forestry, so you'll look a tit tidying up a forest!

And Tbf they're asking those doing ground work to refresh, so loler is irrelevant, I did my cs30/31 4 years ago, bs3998 hadn't been released then, so that was new when I did my last course, plus other stuff has been added, but I'm sure you already know every cut ever invented and couldn't learn anything else

Well i just passed cs41 so how do i upgrade that in 5 years ?. I know ill spend 3 days losing money to my competitors while they show me a spider rig again...

Perhaps if the refresher was a days retraining i would think thats not to sour, but redoing the course is a fkucnig psis take.

We all know its jobs for knobs haha jokes but rather than moan lets do something about it outline a suitable refresher.

I agree on cpd ie cs31 5 years later cs32 etc which is how i have done it but after you have all the courses it should just be one day for each ticket ie cs41/32/40 each only a day

But what do i know im just a chump that climbs trees in the rain for crap money once you remove tax, insurance, wages, expenses, never ending training

A refresher is ONE day according to a trainer I know, if it takes longer, it's safe to say you're crap at doing it!

Groan....

Once again you seem to think the training providers invent courses.

They don't, there wouldn't be a blower course because there wouldn't be demand and thus no need for it.

And there is bugger all logical about the way you have thought that through

Its a refresher not a re take, as an example, the first aid FAW is a 3/4 day course and the refresher is 3 hours.

Seems you boys may have been labouring under a false assumption

it was sarcasm mate, you and eddy obviously missed that by a country mile, you guys seriously need to develop the ability to think critically.

So anyway, are we all in agreement that AA Teccie should act on our behalf to stop the HSE introducing mandatory refresher/update training in the arb industry?
