Timberwolf have come a long way. When I first started out, the company I worked for had one of the very earlier yellow entec models which had a number of issues. We subsequently moved away from timberwolfs. It wasnt till 7 years later when I went self employed that I used one again. Now I use them regularly with the companies I sub to and they really are a different machine....rarely have I seen any problems with them, and the 190 really eats through stuff.

Any sort of tinny clattering can be heard - especially on run-down when the engine revs drop. Any change in sound from 'the usual' and its time to check.

If you hear it - check the flywheel.

Worth checking every time you change the blades.

You can use a lever between casing and flywheelto see if there is movement.

How do you tell if the bearings are going on your chipper. Should you be able to hear a noise from the bearings at low revs ? can you feel wear by moving the flywheel.

There shouldn't be any noticeable noise at any speed.

If you flip the belts off and spin the flywheel by hand (mind yer fingers) the action should be smooth, bearings on their way out will rumble and knackered ones will allow the flywheel to move with the aid of a pry bar or similar.
