if you intend to screw anything into the oak treee, you better make it good quality stainless steel, the tannin in the oak with destroy steel in short shrift, look at any wire or staples in field oaks, not much left after a few years, compartmetilised, and big "blue-black" stains up the timber

Did some workon a treehouse years ago, andused gl's. There an incredible design and take a serious load. There designed around the growth of the tree and give it space move and grow. There ridiculously expensive and the necessary custom drill bits are even dearer.

Because there so strong, with careful design you can use very few. dont underestimate the size of drill(definately corded) you will need.

Anyone who drills into a tree has to accept the fact that its damage, but with care and planning this canbe minimised.

You will find some interesting reading here.

So you want to install a Garnier limb? |

I get where you're coming from, but if you would allow me to be punctiliously pedantic, the Oxford english dictionary describes a 'treehouse' as "a structure or hut within a tree' especially for children to play in"

The structure above in the shots fits within the definition from my perspective

I think the point being that no matter what the purpose for a structure and tree to come together in design, the construction does not need to be in

.

I don't advocate invasive engineering . Also I don't think it fits the definition which , as you say , states " within a tree " this is around the tree ! :001_tt2: Just me being pernickety .......:001_smile:
