Looks amazing! Don't the hydraulic rams prevent the shocks and springs from working though? Or am I missing something very obvious?..

 

A shock absorber is a hydraulic ram, making a regular ram act as a damper is a simple enough thing.

We are currently building a buggy (Landymog) and have used Unimog portals welded on to Land Rover axles. The worst part was getting the half shafts made to fit from the diff to the drop boxes.

My assumption is that the hydraulics are set to float during normal use, allowing the suspension to do its work (but giving the lowest ride height). When in use for ride height purposes the hydraulics effectively lock out the suspension. Unless there is some very trick/expensive accumulator set up also at play...

No but getting closer, going for some paint on the roll cage next week while everything is still loose then off to have the electrics done and bolt it all back together so not far away now. Body panels have already been sprayed not that there's many of them.
