Sounds like a hole in the leak off hose from the injectors.

If its a leak in the "leak off" (spill return) system, that goes back to tank and has nothing to do with how the engine runs

whats the 'hold in coil' and where is it on a 2004 machine?

thanks

matt hazelnuttreecare

on the stop solenoid there is usually 3 wires one is earth on is linked to the starter for the pull in coil and the other is the hold in , the stop solenoid is usually on the fuel pump on the left hand side at the back if you get a multimeter the coil with the most resistance is the hold in

Have to disagree. I had same problem on a kubota engine, and it was the leak off hose.

If by leak off hose you mean the spill return system, it goes back to the fuel tank, its under pressure (slight) so any issue will be a fluid leak, not drawing air, even if it did draw air it goes to the tank and plays no part in the running if the engine.

How come I replaced a leaky spill return hose and it cured the problem then?

How could anyone possibly answer that? You were calling it a leak off pipe or some such, I am not even sure you are talking about the spill return pipe
