I will always remember the first one I ever roped down (Lombardy) it was a thin 20ft top - I thought I was going to die  it gave me a 1 meter sway never did them that long after that:001_smile:

:D I know what you mean, I think I nearly passed out after my first one, seeing the trunk snake around underneath me was heart attack material but I got some kind of faith in them now, here's a few from the last one I tackledImageUploadedByArbtalk1368226935.851997.jpg.b2fda42ae39c8dc890408602a62ac895.jpg

hate roping down the top though

If I am on the lowering line you'll love roping down the top as I'll guarantee you will not feel a thing!

lombard's are the best, nothing compare's ,they look tall but are real easy to do,easy to chip, light and you can have epic fun hand-bawling the lot down old school style, by far my fave tree to bash.

Had to completely dismantle two very tall/old pops, there was 20 phone lines underneath, and was situated 8ft away from a gable end. Safe to say I was happy when the spikes came off!ImageUploadedByArbtalk1369258351.326019.jpg.e2d837332e984a573cea16b571df78df.jpg

You know your a long way up when it takes a count of 3 for the branch to hit the deck.... Definitely one of the tallest trees I've taken down.

Big poplar we took down. Ben Saxton did the first day I finished off!

that would have had my brown eye winking
