They will be charged quite a lot for the teak-and these establishments have the nerve to charge us for our chip that we convey to their premises-we should all start to sell our chip to them or find other means of disposal, see what things are like with the shoe on the other foot. Its good that jobs have been created-so they must be making a killing. I am going to contact a nearby chip site and offer them a tranny load of chips-say £20 per ton and see what sort of reaction there is lol...Nick.

Its not as eco bad as it might seem, your tranny load is a lot more inefficient than a big assed boat carting tens of thousands of tons at a time.

Yes thats true, but a developing country strapped for cash in africa-the forests are going to be stripped bare in no time me thinks-that is definately not eco friendly.

I agree both points, shipping is fuel energy efficient and cost efficient, when we hauled pulp to Shotton the cost was higher than wood pulp coming from Canada to Liverpool.

How much of this woodchip coming in is coming from "certified" wood that are being clear felled to palm oil plantations, shrimp farms or plain agriculture.

The trees didn't grow on the boat the probably had to be driven there in a worn out smoking old wreck of a truck

The damage had already been done before it made it to the ship me thinks

The point I was addressing was

Teak from West Africa! How many hundreds of tons of oil will be burnt to transport that?

and smoking old wrecks don't last long when put to serious work like this so I doubt your "probably"
