My take on a patio heater

Rescued this old Victorian bedroom fireplace from a skip and thought it would make a great garden feature/heater.

Tried it today and I definitely need to create some draw:001_rolleyes:

What do you think I need in regards to flue pipe? I was thinking of it coming out the top to say 2m. Do these come up much as used/scrap?

Cheers,

Si

You will need at least 4.5m I think. It might work on less but usually thats what you need for a stove, an open fire putting more heat into a chimney might work a bit shorter.

Cheers Al,

I think the neighbours might have issues with a 4.5 m flue in the garden:laugh1:

Just out of interest does the pipe diameter make much difference in pull, ie would a shorter flue work best if 6 or 7 " diam or 4 or 5"?

I think 2m will be fine , you see all these outdoor chimaners (sp) which are short and they work fine.
