I looked at plenty of websites, Jonesie for one the height bar option is 28" I am not saying they are not powerful enough.

Where can I buy one with a 36" Alex?

Can't see a dealer not selling you one with a 36" . But if he wont just get the power head only and get a bar from on here . You might want to run .404 or 3/8 so get the right pormate rim .

Big dead Horse chestnuts may be hollow so no need to buy a bigger saw.

Can't he just fit a longer bar with skip chain fitted to his 576.

Sounds like an excuse to buy a superior stihl saw to me :thumbup1::lol::lol::lol::lol::001_tt2:

Even if they're not hollow, a bore cut should get them down with a 24" bar. It needs to be a REALLY big tree to be unable to bore it and fell it with a 24" bar.

If you can't get a 36" bar for the 395 straight out of the box then just buy the power head and a bigger bar and chain separately. Personally I'd look at getting the 395 with a 28" bar and chain, then you've got it, and get the bigger bar and chain (plus probably drive sprocket due to different pitch) for occassional use.

That's what I mean. But why buy a 395 if you can put a 36" bar on a 576 ???
