I've used my camelback climbing before now and found it quite effective. For the size of them they don't add any noticeable weight. Taking sips between cuts and lowering stuff. Keeps you focused!

Cheers Rob, the fact that you can have little and often is what would work best for me, its how I do it when running marathons and I sweat alot more working with them trousers on. Think I'll give it a bash. I'd use it on the bike if I didnt get on with it.

I just tucked the pipe into the shoulder strap and it kept it out the way. The chest strap worked well keeping it secure. I filled mine with lucozade and it kept me up there for 6 hours.

Good thread guys. I still think a chilled drink jacket would keep your bod cool whilst supplying a continuous supply of the much needed fluid!

You and your drink jacket! Dont you think it would warm quickly and end up being a very thick extra layer. And I dont want to see a tubed hydrating 13mm climbing rope in Jones's 'things you didnt know you needed' list anytime soon Hillbilly! Its my idea to take to the dragons den.

Rob, you've sold it to me. Will make a purchase.

Maybe, between us, we could patent some new super hydration jacket. But don't you think that carrying all that extra weight could be a problem? Phew...!:001_tongue:

Camelbak already did that.

Womens drinkable vest thing - CamelBak | WOMEN'S POWDERBAK Hydration system that's actually integrated into a full-zip mid-layer

Drinkable tactical vest - CamelBak Delta-5 Tactical Vest with 102 oz Hydration System MOLLE Compatible Nylon Black - 60436 - Midway UK

there are also several varieties of vest-style camelbaks for long distance runners
