Stihl....

And the bad things are few people. It's a bit like marmite either love it or hate it. I've heard mixed reviews and to be honest most people complaining about poor performance have not had the saw retuned after first use.

Best thing to do is get a stihl and a husky, I've got 2 stihl and 2 husky saws and I like them all because they cut wood. If I get a problem with them i fix them. It's all fun fun fun.

Splurging out on a new carb would me the very last thing I would do - rebuilding it and giving it a decent clean with an ultrasonic cleaner is a better bet and also pressure checking the carb is worth doing.

Pressure and vac test is worth it, I had a 335 like this and found one of the crank seals had gone - bit involved replacing it!

Other than that - pull the muffler and check the piston is sound with no scoring - a compression check would be advisable as well.

Used husky in the 80s and they were ok switched to Stihl in the 90 s and stuck with them since have presently got a 440 ms 391 and an old 056 all of which are great and a couple of small old huskys left from the 80s which still run fine for firewood etc
