Another scum thread

I went up the lane to buy 5 gallons of red diesel of my neighbour this afternoon. He had had a delivery a few days ago and then discovers the tank is empty again. So I went home and checked my heating oil tank. That was empty too. We both lost about 400 litres. They must have carried it off in 5 gallon cans as they could not have got a vehicle close.

My job for tomorrow evening is to start to make a metal cage to put round the tank.

Be careful if you have a plastic tank, their favourite trick if they can't get into it is to get a red hot bit of pipe and push it through the bund into the tank! They take what they can then let the rest onto the ground which then cause all sorts of headaches to clear up and put right.

Neighbour at the farm had thier heating oil pinched thier tank is only 30 yards from my diesel tank which was empty at the time anyway, they only realsied when I went to ask if it was leaking as I had opened a manhole on the yard and stank of kero, they thought they had a problem with aga as had only just filled the tank, scum had undon the union at the tank drained it and done it back up, but must have spilt a load which had found its way into the drain :sneaky2:
