Are there any decent aftermarket Stihl 026 cylinders?

I looked for meteor, but I think only pistons are available. Aftermarket cylinders look like a complete lottery!

You're right it can be. Look up ebay seller Tesgol he sells decent ones I've fixed a few saws with his parts.

Go for a bit more expensive rather than the cheapest of the cheap.

have fun! it is rewarding when you get them going again.

That transfer would be a likely cause of fuel oil mix wrong.

I've cleaned up a similar looking pot before. The acid works well. But after cleaning check for any deep scores left behind. I've always looked at the lower side of the exhaust as not much of a problem. If you think about how the piston moves the rings only just move below the port. The inlet port they move all the way down the pot. Just my opinion. Others may differ but I've cleaned similar.

Use meteor pistons and the not the cheapest pot. It's the rings on Chinese ones that are normally no good.

Tis is all a bit da ja vu. I'm sure I answered a similar question to this not so long ago...

Good luck with it.

Was it about my crappy 066 pot for my 064 rich ? Glad I went with advice and reused the original with a meteor piston

Thanks so much for all these excellent answers/tips!

How long should I leave the acid on the aluminium streaks before rinsing? It's a little at a time I assume, rather trying to take the entire depth of the transfer off all in one?

Until it stops fizzing.
