Went to visit my parents today and noticed this ring barking on 5 trees in a row, i used to play in and around these trees when i was a kid, after chatting to a few of the neighbours, find out the trees were shading someone's greenhouse,Luckly they haven't cut quite deep enough and the trees are starting to heal themselves, i,m guessing an electric chainsaw and a extension lead, i,m guessing they been done about a year. trees are on coucil land as well. So Tuesday i will be seeing our local tree officer.Photos are of 4 different trees.

Unfortunately the offender is simply likely to have another attempt. Council legal departments seem loathe to prosecute, even at times when the offenders caught in the act.

The best outcome likely is a good TO who will talk to the neighbours, not singling anyone out, pointing out how keen the authority is to prosecute. It might be a bluff, but it may just work.

Good luck, but don't get your hopes up.
