Memory loss anyone?

I finished studying last year after a seven year process from level two to level six,as I went higher up the educational realm and worked the brain my memory was bulletproof.. Past last exam in September 2012,and since then have just been focusing on business family and socialising, my ability to remember stuff that's is daily calls to make, checking things, jobs to do list etc is poor now.

When I have lots of plates juggling I make several to do lists and add and delete as and when. When those plates are reduced to only three or four i don't make lists as i assume i will remember.

I end up with ahead full of nothing but frustration at not doing tasks etc. for me, I often attribute forgetfulness to not task managing appropriately and therefore filling head with stuff that I needn't remember.

The old saying, use it or lose it is very true.

Geoff have you considered learning another language?

Now theres an idea that's worth a pop,I have been thinking about getting a place in France, got French O' level,& have travelled over there, might be an idea to brush up on my French, kills 2 birds with one stone!:thumbup1:

As explained thoroughly in an earlier post you have to use the grey matter with which you are having problems. Go around the garden, park or field and name every plant and weed you see (providing you could do so before at one time). If you cannot remember a plant, or for the future trips start a notebook to seek the names out, and then practice.

Positive thinking helps i.e have a mantra you repeat three times several times a day i.e I have a good retentive memory.

Could be overwork/ stress if you're doing a lot... my brain sometimes feels like it has turned to mush and esp just before a holiday it closes down the day or two before going away :sneaky2:

Most memory aids are pretty tedious but I'm playing a game at the moment called 'Candy Crush' on the iphone - my mate was playing it and it is great fun - sort of like tetris but a thousand times better!

It's free as well................. but when you run out of lives you can either wait 30 mins or pay £0.69 to play again immediately... this happens randomly. I always wait as part of the fun IMO!

Write stuff down, I think this helps re-enforce the memory, and if you still don't remember check the written stuff :thumbup1:

I've never found an ideal (cheap) suitable pocket book that has it's own pen, so I tape a tube on the spine of a pocket size notebook to take a pen (so I don't forget where the pen is  ) I tend to draw a lot of diagrams with dimensions, so I like to use a pocketbook that has printed 5mm squares.

I've been doing this about 8yrs now, started taking notes about a house move, filled a half dozen notebooks by now, I actually call the book my "brain"

HTH.
