Given what you have said here, I'm now woundering just how toasty a set would be on your ported/ soon to be, racing saw........

I have done a couple....357XP locally and a 346Xp very recently! No reports back but am guessing that they get extra hot - about right with this weather!

Not really - just need checks to the wiring and switch if they fail.

I do wonder how much power the heated handles take from the machine as you can feel the resistance the magnets make on the crank - guess you have toasty hands though:thumbup:

I've wondered that myself.

They must use some of the power output, and in small engines every little bit counts.

Does anyone have facts or figures?

The power consumption isnt that much and the weight gain is only about 100g or so - but combine the both the affect is a reduction in power / weight ratio but the benefit is well worth it imo.

There is a coil that sits behind the flywheel (static) that generates the power as the flywheel rotates. Very simple and very reliable.

Great for drying out ur gloves wen raining and in theory helps staves off the ravages of vib. damage.

Need to use carefully in warmer weather (+ 5 c or more) as in some cases the carb is heated too, to prevent carb icing.

In these warmer temps the fuel can start to evaporate causing vapour locking resulting in poor performance, hot starting probs and possibly seizing up in higher temps. If ur saw has a 3 position switch make sure its set to carb heating off.

As an option, you can bypass the carb heating element but chk with the manf on correct way as its possible to overload the circuit and blow the other heating elements.

An excellent feature to have on these very cold days!

Wouldn't it be more efficient to run a short pipe from the exhaust port, you could then effectively hold the saw with the expansion box.

Extra power from the uprated exhaust, no power loss to extra 'wussy' magnet and all the heat you can 'handle'.

C'mon spud, there must be a market for these - off you go!.

I thought there were a lot of little elves in the saw collecting up the electricity and running down the wires with it and the tipping it into the handles .........

This man's wisdom knows no bounds - all bow down:thumbup:
