MS200T Oiling Problem

I've had an MS200 sat on the shelf, not used for 6-8mths. Fitted a new bar last week and started her up. A bit reluctant to start at first, and then had to twiddle and tweak the carb until she seemed to be running sweet again.

 

Now I've noticed that it does not seem to be oiling properly, there is a miscroscopic amount coming through, but after a tank full of fuel the oil resevoir has barely cleared the bottom of the filler cap thread. I have tried adjust the the oil flow screw but this has no noticeable affect.

 

When I run the chain near an object, there is no oil visibly being flicked off and the chain appears to be bone dry. Phew and hot!!

 

Anyone any ideas?

The old oil in your saw could have set, bio oil is prone to this, put some petrol in the oil tank and run up for a few minutes. If no joy check the oil pump drive.

It also could have an air lock, oil pumps are good at pumping oil but not air. take off the bar and chain so you are not running them with no oil. The fill the oil tank fully, turn the saw on its side so the chain oil feeder port is down hill and give it some revs, then turn it so its facing up and do the same, that should get the air out and oil flowing, if not strip it down as said previous

I think RB was refering to the pump ,if you are going to work on it .To get to it you have to remove the clutch,inner cover etc .

 

The pump drives off a worm gear which is driven from the clutch drum .

 

It isn't that hard to unscrew the clutch but if you don't get it tight enough on reassembly it could spin off . Then they shoot accross the floor about 100 miles an hour and end up in the darnest places . Like in the rear window of your wifes automobile or something . I imagine that wouild tickle her .

If you do that, put the side cover back on, or the clutch could spin off. not a good thing!

 

 

i second that, know of a bloke who started one up with no side cover on outside the clutch span off, seperated as it hit the floor bounced shattered a fellow workers car window:ohmy::blushing:

It should only come off if you have removed it first, if its been in use then it wont.

 

Remove the pump and pickup pipe, blow pipe out, clean out tank with petrol and put it all back together doesnt take long and will sort it out.

 

Nothing ever breaks with the pump etc, it will prob be a blockage somewhere.
