everytime ive used it the chain has eather been brand new or fresh sharpened, just needs some persuasion in beech for some reason, specially the big thing 2day, the 36" bar barely marked it

I think you are doing something very wrong there mate!

You are heading for a very serious accident tbh :scared1:

I dont think I have ever had to use both hands on the rear handle at the same time, saw must be very very blunt (or no cutter depth)to run a 36" chain and not bog down with that much pressure.

If its not cutting (like a hot knife through butter) with a new chain, I would say the bar must be shagged, if its very worn the chain will rock over too one side and not cut well.

But PLEASE keep both hands in the correct handles at all times, the 66 will take no prisoners, you need too be in total control at all times.

If it won't cut with ease, STOP and investigate the problem :001_smile:

thanks for the advice sky, i only do it when i have bored into the timber and theres no chance of it kicking up.

jungle spikes into the timber and sorta rock from the back end so if there was any kick the saw would hit the uncut timber and stop.

as for the reason i have been doing it is because i seen someone doing it a while back and ive never been told off for doing it 2bh :) but thanks anyway i shall bear it in mind

p.s when i said the 36" bar bareley marked it i mean in legnth, it was a triple stem beech that had included together. it would have been near 6 foot diameter

Saws dont just kick up they can kick out aswell.

I know since I had a big dolmar kick out of a trunk I was ringing up right in to the side of knee, could hardly walk properly for about a week.

Ive seen that happen to a friend of mine while ringing up a large beech, it hit him in the thigh and gave him a severe dead leg......Very wise words Mesterh.

Wise words indeed, personally i like to use my knee under the handle to force it through that leaves my other hand free to smoke a fag or pour water into the cut as the smoke burns my nostrils.
