Fake Owl

Afternoon all. I've been asked by a client to put in an application to fell a Monterey cypress because the drive way & vehicles are being bombarded with Seagull & Pigeon feaces. It's the only tree in a new build cul-de-sac & has a TPO on it. I've got to go & have a look in the morning. I have heard about putting in fake owls to scare off other birds but not sure how true it is?

Has anyone got any experience or info on this? Ta.

Doesn't really work as far as I know, birds get used to it after a bit and then back to square one.

 

Nottingham council tried a robotic one a few years ago, I think that had slightly better results but still not brilliant IIRC

A local community farm use raptors, but I don't remember what type off the top of my head, they claim it works pretty well.

We put a tawny decoy up a big something ( can't remember what now ) Thing is owls mostly hunt evening to first light . Maybe better with some other decoy like a peregrine or the like . I do think the birds eventually become accustomed to it when nothing happens though .

They don't work, I put three up and before long the pigeons were using them as a perch

I put one up by some siliage clamps at a farm.Its now covered in crap after being used as a perch.
