Slow cooking in chip?

All this talk of stable temperatures of 60-80 celcius has got me thinking - has anyone run a central heating system off a chip pile? I don't know how long a pile will maintain it's temperature for, but I love the idea of piling up a monster pile in autumn and that supplying enough heat for the winter!

I suppose you could do this with any vegetation i.e grass cuttings?

Have cooked a spud in a chip pile took 2 days. As for heating i put about 30ft of flexable pipe in my chip pile last time i piled it up. The water that came out after a week was to hot to touch. The problem is you dont want to be taking to much heat out of the pile
