Throwline knots

Get an old chainsaw file and heat it up red hot! Then burn a hole through the end of the climb line about an inch from the end. (I'm assuming you don't have spliced eyes, or else you would just tie the throwline to the eye!)

 

Then cut a short bit of throwline, thread it through the hole and tie it into a loop using a double fishermans. You now have a loop to clip a mini clip to and onto the throw bag.

the only bit i disagree with is do not let file get too hot or it smolders and makes a horrid hole pretty hot a couple of times is better imo and then you can do it very close to end

when at college i was taught to use a khaaras hitch (or something along those lines [spelling]) to attach my throwline to my climbing line.

I have a loop in the end of my throwlines, this is used to girth hitch to the ring on the throwbag, and girth hitch onto the rope. This is then backed up with a few half hitches as per Rupes diagram.

I generally slip the line off the bag, clove hitch and a series of half-hitches along the rope so it glides effortlessly through the crotch.........sometimes!

Actually, what I normally do is take the top biner off my hitchclimber, put it through the splice eye, attach it to the loop on the throwbag, and pull the whole lot, pulley, hitch and all, through the crotch.

Throwline to the Bag , A slipped bluntline with extra twists( similar to a slipped cinch knot) for easy release..Thowline to rope without eye clove and half hitches with twisted half hitch on last( similar to Rupes pic.Throwline to eye on rope, clip small rated biner to loop on bottom of throw bag or bowline to eye..

my throwline has an eye splice and gets girth hitched to the ring on the bag. the bag gets removed and about 5 or 6 half hitches tied down the climbing line. sometimes it's easier to thread your climbing line backwards (tail first), it may even let any twists untwist from the length of the line.
