Speak for yourself, if well endowed in the trouser department you have to strap that to your leg!

Do you have to double it up and strap it down both legs....?

I feel quite inadequate now, mine only goes to just below my left knee... :blushing::001_tt2:

Joking aside, what other kit do you have to assist you on your first job? Chainsaw(ground), rake, blower, rope, harness etc????

Hi mate, well I've got a aluminium tower, husky 346xp, rake, rope a couple of tarpaulin to put on the lawn and obviously some brushes oh and a transit tipper to remove all the waste :thumbup1:

Get some old builders bulk bags.

They can end up immobile! I made the mistake of thinking I could drag one off the lawn with dead leaves in it..... No chance! :blushing:

I'm a bit of a mule so I just grab those handles with my arms behind my back and trudge on !

I find them invaluable now for leaves, grass and hedge prunings. Keeps my work area tidy as I go. Also good for my shredder. Just drag the bags up a wee ramp and into my trailer.

But your right you learn quickly how much weight is in them. :001_smile:

It looks like you have a good set-up. once you have the tops off, the chainsaw will speed up the clear up. Your heads in the right place on this one, the tarps will save you a lot of time in the clear up, leaving a tidy site behind you is one of the most important things you can do, its what sorts the pro's from the cowboys. I know i speak for most on here when i say good luck and be safe.

What is wrong with someone wanting to make a start? He obviously knows his limitations, accepts that he is going to be using a handsaw to do the job, just wonders whether its worth investing in a decent handsaw.

Oh my bad, we're all experts aren't we. :001_rolleyes:

I guess it's good for the industry to have inexperienced, unqualified and uninsured people carrying out work. Work that may have gone to a company who provide training, have insurance and DO work by the book.

I guess it's good for everyone in the industry.

1. How do you know he's not? :001_huh:

2. It's lopping off a conny hedge, not exactly dismantling a dead 150' ash over an orphanage.... :001_rolleyes:

I reckon it's a great job to start with and I think it's brilliant that he's earning his way into the industry rather than amassing a pile of tickets and expecting to walk straight into a job as lead climber.... :thumbup1:

In fact now I think of it, it's very similar to how I started.

Except I got knobbled with a quick thorn hedge..... :sneaky2::laugh1:
