Breaking in a brand new saw?

Is there a general way of breaking in a new saw, or set differences from saw to saw? Getting my funds together in hopes of a new saw (my first!) just wondering how and what to do and maybe how you guys go about it. Thanks for any help!

Usually just dont run it flat out for the first two tank fulls of fuel. Im sure brands differ but that is generally the best thing to do.

Straight to normal work should be fine, I just mean take it easy on the first few tanks of fuel.

 

So, lets say you have an 18 inch bar, dont start off cutting 20+ inch stuff.

Thats it with modern saws . In fact if you get one with auto tune you must run it flat out from the off to set the auto tune .

if its a new saw read the manual you get with it and it will advise you of how to run in

I reckon don't be spiteful with it but just get straight to work as normal.

Run it in like a new dirt bike....ride it like you stole it. Going steady ends up glazing bores and rings and ending up with lower compression.
