Bit of a long shot but....

Spent the day lifting the floor from a school exam hall, anyone got any bright ideas what it might be? Will sand a bit up and take a close up but any gut reactions?

Hard to tell from that picture but maybe iroko. It goes that colour if it gets a fair bit of sunlight but would probably be darker if the floor is shaded. If it is iroko the dust is a nasty irritant.

if i could see a close up i could tell for sure...

 

beech is an obvious choice and iroko is very much a possibility as it does bleach in the sun but it looks very remenicent of muhuhu to me.

 

be interested to see what it is.

Righto timberninjas I'm not sure it will help but here's some close ups, stamped "Stevens and Adams made in England" if that's any use?
